The George Gritzbach Band plays inventive takes on classics and a healthy helping of innovative originals offering a great mix of blues, roots, and R&B. The band has appeared at a wide variety of venues and Festivals across North America, including opening for B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray and many others as well as local nightclubs and Performing Arts Centers. They also have the versatility to play unplugged acoustic sets for a more intimate experience. The band, lead by George, a serious blues devotee who caused a sensation when he first debuted on the New England blues scene, is now backed by a seasoned rhythm section featuring Scott Lariviere on bass and backing vocals and Johnny Menezes on keyboards and Christian McCarthy on drums, percussion and backing vocals. Rounding out the group is Peter Murray laying it down on the sax. The ensemble continues to be in demand as a high energy R&B dance band strongly rooted in blues, funk and New Orleans styles.
George Gritzbach - Guitar, Dobro, Harmonica, Vocals - George’s early recordings were on independent labels, Kicking Mule and Flying Fish. showcased his roots in country and folk blues. When he hits the stage, the air sizzles with excitement as his guitar seems to shimmer with heat alongside his smoky vocals. Reviewers have called him a “sizzling hot, no holds barred electric bluesman” and “brash, tough, and a tantalizing cut below nasty”.
John Menezes - Keyboards - John is a talented musician who takes it to the next level. He has played for many years with a plethora of who's who in the music business. He is really digging what's happening in this band with George and the boys and is looking forward to our upcoming studio project and new album release later this year.
Scott Lariviere - Bass, Vocals - Scott joined the musicians union at the age of 14 and immediately began playing in a a traveling 17 piece big band. After that he worked for Eartha Kitt , Craig Russell and many others over the years covering many different genres. He’s really digging this new gig and loves nothing better than getting out there and "making a joyful noise" When he lays down the groove, you can't help but shake your money maker...
Christian McCarthy - Drums, Vocals - Christian brings a wealth of experience to this ensemble. The heartbeat of the ensemble, He can lay down a groove like no other.
